There are two types of habits. The first lot is of good habits that need to be nurtured. These may include habits like cleanliness, reading, acquiring good knowledge, keeping in touch with good company, etc. but acquiring good habits is very difficult and acquiring bad ones is very easy. We see lot of people in our day to day life who are capable of leading a dignified life but at some turning point in life succumb to various addictions and make their lives miserable. Whether it is drug addiction or alcohol addiction, they need a definitive treatment to come out of it.
Also there are a few people who lead their primary addictions to secondary addictions like gambling addiction. This is the worst form of addiction that creates insurmountable debts for the addicted person that makes him take greater risks and thus ruining his life. In alcoholic and drug addictions, definitive signs and symptoms are visible many times that makes the diagnosis possible in case the person has not committed it. The symptoms like slurred speech, abnormal co-ordination etc can be seen in alcoholism and irritability, exhaustion, keeping away from regular tasks may be noticed in drug addiction.
That’s why it is concluded that anything in excess is dangerous. May be it is as minor as food. Rather, food addiction are considered as risky affairs as well. They run severe risks of varied diseases as age advances. Ranging from cardiac troubles to stroke, the disease range is enormous if one counts. There are many types of food addictions like anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa or compulsive overeating. In any type, the person is compelled to eat and cannot be satiated. Keeping away from any of the addictions forms the crux of leading a healthy and dignified life!
